Glass Visiting Artist: Erika Diamond
RIT's glass program is hosting Erika Diamond as part of its Visiting Artist Lecture Series Tuesday, Nov. 7.
During her visit she will deliver a talk about her work and career as both artist and curator followed by group discussion. These events are open to the entire RIT community.
- Artist talk and Q-and-A — 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, Glass Classroom (Booth Hall, 3634)
- Group discussion — 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, Art and Human Experience Classroom (Booth Hall, 3330)
Diamond’s creative practice is rooted in the historical functions of textiles as protective shields, storytelling artifacts, and signifiers of identity, belonging, and value. Underscored by the paradox of queer safety and visibility, her work examines the fragility and resilience of the human body and our vital need for human connection.
