If You Can See Her, You Can Be Her”: Applying a Transformative Advertising Research Lens to the Multistakeholder SeeHer Initiative

The Visual Arts, Culture and Media Lecture Series presents a talk by Catherine Coleman, Texas Christian University.

This talk examines problems and opportunities across the advertising system with the goal of transforming it towards better outcomes, namely cultivating individual, institutional, and societal well-being. Drawing on initial collaborative work with the SeeHer initiative in conjunction with the Association of National Advertisers, she will present implications for theory, well-being, and practice, focusing on a long-standing topical issue within advertising - gender inequality.

Coleman is Professor and Chair of the Department of Strategic Communication, Bob Schieffer College of Communication, Texas Christian University. She is an advertising and consumer researcher, focusing on the advertising industry, consumer culture, and transformative consumer research. https://schieffercollege.tcu.edu/faculty_staff/catherine-coleman/
