Let’s Chat GPT: Happy Birthday ChatGPT! Only 2 Years Old but Changing Search & Discovery
ChatGPT was launched in November 2022 and in just 2 short years the idea and functionality of Generative AI entered popular culture and the research environment. Though it was not intended as a research tool, users began using ChatGPT and similar tools for search and discovery. Information providers reacted by promising and sometimes pushing out AI enhancements into library databases. And just this past year GenAI tools like Perplexity and the new ChatGPT Search have taken off. Join Jennifer Freer, RIT's Business Librarian, to mark the anniversary of ChatGPT's launch and to get an overview of how the launch of this tool has impacted business research, and adjacent subjects, inside and outside of library databases. This presentation will reflect on GenAI developments over the past 2 years, what the library-meets-AI landscape look like now, and where GenAI and information seeking might be headed.
"Let’s Chat GPT" is a series of sessions throughout the year discussing various aspects of generative AI and adjacent topics as they intersect with library business research and resources.
