CANCELLED: Women on Wikipedia Edit-a-thon
Join RIT Libraries for the fourth annual Wikipedia Edit-a-thon in celebration of Women's History Month. Improve the representation of women on Wikipedia by editing or writing new Wikipedia entries about notable women.
No experience is necessary! RIT librarians and trained volunteers will teach participants the best practices of Wikipedia, how to create an account, and how to use Wikipedia's editing tools. We have identified entries that need to be edited or created, and we will provide the resources to make those improvements.
Participants may drop in for half an hour or stay as long as they'd like. People of all gender identities and expressions are welcome to participate. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. American Sign Language (ASL) interpreting services have been requested.
Computers are limited, so please bring a laptop or tablet if you have one. Free Wi-Fi is available on site. Light refreshments will be provided.
This event is co-sponsored by The Strong National Museum of Play, Deaf Women of Rochester, Flower City Arts Center, Second Avenue Learning, the MAGIC Center, the Q Center, RIT Archive Collections, RIT Cary Graphic Arts Collection, RIT Digital Humanities and Social Sciences, RIT Student Government, RIT Division of Diversity and Inclusion, RIT Center for Engaged Storycraft, and RIT Women and Gender Studies Program.
