Pulitzer Prize-recognized Alumni Visit
RIT’s College of Art and Design has a long list of accomplished alumni who have made a difference in the world. Four of them — from the School of Photographic Arts and Sciences — are visiting RIT from March 19-22 for a series of special events that are open to the public.
The photography alumni have all been recognized as either Pulitzer Prize winners or finalists, promising RIT and the greater community exposure to acclaimed experts in the fields of storytelling and photojournalism. They are scheduled to visit classes, deliver talks and present at a multidisciplinary symposium in collaboration with the College of Liberal Arts and the Center for Engaged Storycraft. The visiting alumni are: Paula Bronstein ’78 (2011 finalist), David Carson ’94 (2015 winner), Edmund Fountain ’03 (2010 finalist) and David Wallace ’01 (2018 winner).
The events have been organized by the College of Art and Design’s own multi-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer, William Snyder, professor and Photojournalism undergraduate program director.
Schedule
- Wednesday, March 20 6:00 p.m.: General panel discussion with the Pulitzer Prize-recognized alumni in MAGIC Spell Studios’ Wegmans Theater.
- Thursday, March 21 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.: Public program featuring the alumni at the recently debuted RIT City Art Space (280 East Main St., first floor of Sibley Tower, Rochester, N.Y., 14604).
Friday, March 22 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.: The alumni guests will share hard-earned insights into the science, art, craft and ethics of researching, discovering, experiencing, gathering and disseminating a story during a symposium. They will be joined by other faculty panelists. The event will be held in MAGIC Spell Studios’ Wegmans Theater.
