Speaker Bio:
Hannah is a 4th year PhD candidate in the Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics program at UC Riverside. Their work focuses on using bioinformatic tools to examine the microbial ecology of the Salton Sea, a hypersaline lake in Southern California. Hannah is passionate about bioinformatics and data analysis and is developing their own workflows for analyzing amplicon and shotgun metagenome sequence data. They are a proud, queer, nonbinary scientist that wants to make data analysis accessible and approachable to anyone, regardless of their background. They are currently serving as the vice president of both the Queer Graduate Student Association (GSA) and the Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics GSA at UC Riverside. Whenever Hannah is not busy with research or extracurriculars, you can always find them exercising, cooking, gardening, or playing video games – all with their dog Deetsi by their side.
