Talk: "Bridges, Not Barriers: Critical Embodiment and Storytelling Across Locations" with Dr. Christina Cedillo
Please join the UWP and SOIS for "Bridges, Not Barriers: Critical Embodiment and Storytelling
Across Locations," a talk followed by conversation with Dr. Christina Cedillo, an associate professor
of Writing and Rhetoric at the University of Houston-Clear Lake in Houston, Texas. Her primary area
of interest lies at the intersections of race, gender, and disability and in her work she examines how
legal, scientific, and popular discourses circumscribe the lives of marginalized populations (rhetorics
of embodiment), and how they, in turn, enact rhetorical presence and engage in re-humanization
practices (embodied rhetorics) using multimodality and digital technologies.
