About Jeff Potter

Jeff Potter is a long-time advocate for the architectural profession and actively seeks to raise awareness of how design works in the world around us. He is a full-time practitioner, and founded his design firm in 1983. In 2009, he and his wife Shelley were the first team honored as Outstanding Alumni of the College Architecture at Texas A&M. He served on the national board of AIA, was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2010, and is the 2012 President of the American Institute of Architects.

Complexity, Integration, Communication

The spirit of making connections among people, places and ideas resonates throughout the profession of architecture. The nature of design is about making connections, and implies that in a world of individuals, we are stronger when we reach beyond customary settings and form as a collective. In a time of flux and a struggling economy, and with high performance design of sites and communities demanding a collaborative problem-solving methodology, connections are even more important. Design has the power to fuse various disparities and bridge across boundaries to both inform and form a more vibrant future.
