Kilian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt Interfaith Center

The Schmitt Interfaith Center is home to Spirituality and Religious Life at RIT, and is located immediately to the east of the Campus Center and Student Alumni Union and connected to them via the Fireside Lounge. The center was a gift from Kilian J. and Caroline F. Schmitt and other donors and was constructed in 1985. You may reserve the following rooms in the Schmitt Interfaith Center. If you would like to use the main lobby or other non-reservable locations, please contact Spirituality and Religious Life to discuss arrangements.

  • Allen Memorial Chapel (SMT-1500)
    Allen Memorial Chapel is the largest space that seats 120 people in its standard setup and has very good acoustics. The simple setting is free from religious symbols and suitable for multiple uses. The space includes chairs, several altars and tables, room dividers, two pianos (grand and upright), and an organ. 
  • Jones Memorial Chapel (SMT-1510)
    Jones Memorial Chapel is a smaller chapel that seats 34 people in its standard setup and has floor-to-ceiling windows facing east and south. This intimate setting is free from religious symbols and suitable for various uses. The space includes chairs, several altars and tables, and an upright piano. 
  • Skalny Room (SMT-A500)
    The Skalny Room is a large, multipurpose room that is located on the lower level (stairs and elevator accessible) and seats 32 people in its standard setup. The space includes movable tables and chairs and can be rearranged for banquets, classes, meetings, or pushed aside to leave open floor space for prayers, meditation, or yoga. Windows open to the north, east, and south.

These hours represent the Student Alumni Union, Campus Center, Monroe Hall and Schmitt Interfaith Center building hours ONLY. Please refer to individual units directly for their hours of operation within the building core business hours. Specifically, the Spirituality and Religious Life office suite (SMT-1400) is generally open Sunday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. during the Academic Year.
