Systems Performance and Reliability Lab
This lab is equipped to investigate component/system performance, in particular aging and failure, under various mechanisms. A 300HP transmission dynamometer supports testing on torsionally loaded rotating components. When coupled with appropriate electrical system modules, this system can also test motors, alternators, and generators. The 100kN hydraulic Instron® tensile and fatigue test system is available for mechanical properties testing of materials and stress testing of components in ambient and elevated temperature regimes. The highly accelerated life tester (HALT) can be used for combined stress testing (vibration and thermal) of electro-mechanical components and devices.
