AALANA Clubs to participate in club fair

Executive board members from the 30 clubs and organizations affiliated with the AALANA Collegiate Association will participate in a club fair until 2 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Student Alumni Union lobby.

Club members will promote membership, leadership opportunities and available executive board positions to current students. The clubs will also showcase involvement in campus projects, community service initiatives and upcoming events sponsored by each organization.

“This is the first time the AALANA Collegiate Association will be hosting a fair and it is a way for the ACA-affiliated clubs and organizations to get new members or encourage students interested in the leadership opportunities,” says Sandy Francois, representative-at-large for the group.

The AALANA Collegiate Association is a major student organization that works to sustain an awareness of the African American, Latino American and Native American population. The organization sponsors a variety of cultural heritage programs, coordinates community service events and works in collaboration with other RIT clubs and entities.

Some affiliates include the American Indian Science and Engineering Society, Black Awareness Coordinating Committee, Caribbean Students Association, Latin American Students Association, Mental Graffiti, the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers and Unity House, as well as several RIT Greek organizations.
