Six faculty are featured in an exhibition in Venice that showcases the College of Art and Design's breadth of creative disciplines through the unification of sculpture, film, photography, and industrial design. 

RIT student Micheala Stout is fulfilling her first co-op experience this summer by developing an interactive toy that fine tunes the motor skills of children with developmental disabilities.

Industrial design MFA alumnus Pete St. John led the creation of two elements of The Strong National Museum of Play’s permanent exhibition “ESL Digital Worlds: Level Up.” This exhibit immerses visitors in an array of interactive video game environments.

Many creators are hesitant to embrace artificial intelligence (AI) as part of the artistic process. Opting to dive in head first, industrial designers Juan Noguera and Paolo Cardini are interested in the new technology’s potential to provide more autonomy for traditional artisans across the globe.

For this semester's Metaproject industrial design initiative, students will work with RIT President David Munson to design concepts for a series of outdoor, hands-on museum installations for the Henrietta campus. The outdoor installations will tell the story of RIT in a way that is immersive and engaging to passersby on campus. Each student is tasked with creating a concept for one of the 14 installations. 

The College of Art and Design welcomes new hires to its faculty roster while longtime faculty Alex Lobos assumes a role as director of the School of Design.

Xinxin Li ’24 MFA (industrial design) is contributing a wealth of experience in CAD modeling, rendering, and 3D printing to a research project funded by the Institute of Museum and Library Services.

Mary Barnard, Willie Osterman, Kim Sherman and David Walter are retiring from RIT with a combined 117 years of experience at the university.
