American College of Management and Technology celebrates 11th commencement

ACMT 2009 Graduating Class

The American College of Management and Technology in Dubrovnik, Croatia, held its 11th commencement ceremony on May 30. More than 100 graduates received their bachelor of science degrees in the field of hospitality and service management.

Participating in the ceremony was the American ambassador in Croatia, Robert Bradtke, and representatives of the local government, Antun Kisić, deputy mayor, and Mira Buconić, head of the county.

ACMT is an important and valuable factor in the local community and a strong engine of higher education development in Croatia, said Kisić in his comments to graduates. He also highlighted that the whole region, just like the world, is going through an economic crisis, but that he is confident that ACMT graduates are ready to face the challenge posed by the recession.

“We share your anticipation of the opportunities that await you. You will, of course, face challenges in the years ahead, and I believe RIT has prepared you well to face them,” said RIT President William Destler, who attended the ceremony with other members of RIT including James Watters, senior vice president of finance and administration, Robert Ulin, dean of the College of Liberal Arts, Fred Walker, dean of the College of Applied Science and Technology, and Donald Hudspeth, dean of ACMT.

Hudspeth delivered his closing address to students in both Croatian and English. “Thank you for deciding to be a member of this family and I wish you, most importantly, happiness and success in both your personal and professional lives. Be good, and please never forget that ACMT, your other family, is always here for you.”
