Assistant professor gives guest lecture

Richard O’Shaughnessy, an assistant professor of mathematics and member of RIT’s Center for Computational Relativity and Gravitation, delivered a guest lecture at Columbia University on April 3. The talk, titled “Astrophysics with gravitational wave populations,” discussed near-future prospects for astrophysics as scientists observe an increasing amount of gravitational waves produced by merging compact binaries of black holes and neutron stars.
