Associate professor presents on short-term medical missions

John Oliphant, associate professor in the physician assistant program, was invited to present to the Canandaigua Medical Society on “Short-Term Medical Missions Done Well: What Every Volunteer Should Understand” on March 8. The presentation addressed issues that can arise when medical providers volunteer for short-term medical missions without proper training on cultural issues and the local healthcare system.
