Browse student art at SAC Walkthrough

The school year at RIT will finish with a creative flourish as students in the School for American Crafts (SAC) showcase their projects during “Walkthrough.” The popular annual open-studios event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 13, in Booth Hall on RIT’s campus. The event is free and open to the public.

“Walkthrough” is a SAC tradition that began more than 25 years ago based on touring the school’s ceramics, glass, furniture design, metals and jewelry design studios to view work created by RIT students. Faculty, students and friends can experience the entirety of the school in a way not possible during the normal day-to-day activities.

“Walkthrough is both a celebration and a significant educational event—a time at the end of the school year for our students to celebrate all their hard work,” says Robin Cass, chair of the School for American Crafts and professor in the glass program. “It’s also a chance for people to visit the school and see the high caliber of finished pieces produced by our talented student artists across a variety of disciplines.

Cass adds that “Walkthrough” has taken on a variety of different forms over the years.

“This year we are proud to present it as a culminating experience of the entire year’s creative activities,” says Cass. “This event is a great opportunity to meet students and faculty, tour the studios, view the work, and speak with students.”
