Emmy- and Grammy-nominated stand-up comedian, writer, radio contributor, and actor Tig Notaro entertained the crowd during RIT’s Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend. Notaro, a favorite on talk shows, including Ellen and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, was named one of the “50 Best Stand-up Comics of All Time” by Rolling Stone.

The women’s volleyball team extended its winning streak to 12-straight games Friday and Saturday, beating Nazareth College, Medaille College, and St. John Fisher College.

RIT students participate in the wildly popular No Voice Zone, which gives hearing students the opportunity to learn sign language and information about Deaf culture from deaf and hard-of-hearing students at RIT’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf. No Voice Zone, a student-run organization, started in 2000 and is held weekly on campus to foster the spirit of growth and collaboration.

Alex Kipman ’01 (software engineering), a technical fellow at Microsoft and inventor of the Kinect and HoloLens products, gave the keynote address at the 20th anniversary celebration of RIT’s Golisano College of Computing and Information Sciences, during Brick City Homecoming and Family Weekend Oct. 15. Kipman discussed his time at RIT and his dream for mixed and augmented reality.

The College of Liberal Arts officially opened the brand-new COLA Tiger Lounge. COLA’s Student Advisory Board identified the need for a student lounge and advocated for its creation. Dean Anna Stenport, center, was joined at the ribbon cutting by, left to right, John Smithgall, assistant dean; Carol Vo, student senator; Sinclaire Ogof, student advisory board chair; Peggy Noll, student advisory board staff advisor; and Kristy Mooney Graves, associate director of student services. The new lounge is located in Liberal Arts Hall 2233.
