Center for Urban Entrepreneurship offers workshops

Rochester Institute of Technology’s Center for Urban Entrepreneurship (CUE) is offering a series of free events and workshops for current or aspiring business owners seeking insight into understanding the market environment.

Sessions include:

• “How to Set Your Food Business up for Success—and the Permits and Documents You Need to Get There,” 6–9 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, co-hosted by Rochester Downtown Development Corporation.
• Center for Urban Entrepreneurship job fair, 4–6 p.m. Wednesday, April 26. Prospective employees are encouraged to bring a résumé for review by current CUE clients. Pre-registration is required for the job fair. Contact Yasmin Maddox, CUE program assistant, at 585-475-6199.
• Presentation about the “5C’s” of credit, what lenders look for in small business clients, addressing and preventing tax accounting issues, and the legal ramifications of tax issues, 10 a.m.–noon April 26 and 10–11:15 a.m. April 27, co-hosted by CUE, Rochester Small Business Alliance and Volunteer Legal Services Project.
• “Mompreneurs and Network Power,” noon­–4 p.m. Monday, May 8. This workshop, designed for entrepreneurs who are also raising young children, will discuss various challenges and will train these entrepreneurs on tips and techniques, and facilitate network pairings to increase their professional and personal support networks.
• “Dadpreneurs and Network Power,” noon–4 p.m. Monday, June 5. This workshop focuses on challenges facing fathers who are also entrepreneurs.
