Tom Newberry to deliver presentation on March 22nd

Design engineer, public-affairs analyst and leader in investor relationships are only a few of the corporate roles Tom Newberry has held. The mechanical engineering alumnus will discuss the role communications can play in providing technical solutions as part of the Kate Gleason College of Engineering Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series.

Newberry, the founder and chief executive officer of C5 Communications, will present “Change: The One Thing That Doesn’t Change,” at 1 p.m. March 22 in Xerox Auditorium. His topic is on adapting to change in the current marketplace and how leadership and communication skills align with engineering expertise to problem solve within that changing landscape. The talk is free and open to students, faculty and staff.

Since he began his career as a senior engineer for Rochester Gas and Electric Corp., Newberry has held prominent roles in the communication field as well, most notably as director of investor relations for North American Vaccine Inc. and vice president of corporate communications and government relations for GTC Biotherapeutics.

The Kate Gleason College of Engineering Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series is sponsored by the college and RIT’s Office of Development. Contact Donna Benier at dlbdar@rit.edu or 585-475-4045 for more information.
