Congratulations to the 2020-21 Zutes Fellowship Awardees!

Since 2005, Saunders College of Business had recognized its faculty’s outstanding scholarship through the Zutes Fellowship.

The Zutes Faculty Fellowship was created in honor of Dean C. Zutes, a prominent businessman in the Rochester area who managed his own wholesale candy and tobacco business. In his passing in 2001, he left an endowment for the college of business. The Zutes Fellowship developed as a way to honor both the faculty and Dean Zutes’ memory.

Faculty are selected yearly for the fellowship based off of the quantity and quality of their scholarship. The 2020-2021 honorees were announced earlier this month, and included professors Malarvizhi Hirudayaraj, PhD, Chun-Keung (Stan) Hoi, Manlu Liu, Archana Jain, Kean Wu, and Rong Yang.

Malarvizhi Hirudayaraj, PhD, Associate Professor of Human Resource Development, is recognized for her second consecutive year for her work in 2019. Dr. Hirudayaraj published five journals and eight professional presentations. In 2018, she was recognized for the Zutes Fellowship after she authored two books and two book chapters

Chun-Keung (Stan) Hoi, Professor of Finance, is also being honored for his second consecutive year. He has been recognized by the Zutes Fellowship seven times for his work. His 2019 scholarship includes an article and a journal, both for the Journal of Financial Economics.

Associate Professor of Management Information Systems and Accounting and Director of MS in Business Analytics, Manlu Liu, has entered 2020 strong publishing a journal within the first three months of the year in addition to her 2019 work. Dr. Liu received the Best Paper Award in 2019 alongside graduate student Shoufan Qiu. Dr. Liu is also a repeat honoree, having earned recognition from Zutes four times before.

Archana Jain, Assistant Professor of Finance, was recognized for her second consecutive year for her three published journals in 2019. She was also a Zutes fellow in 2016-17. Her work has been published in the Journal of Financial Economics, Financial Review, Journal of Management Accounting Research, Review of Quantitative Finance and Accounting, and Economic Letters.

Assistant Professor of Accounting, Kean Wu, earned Zutes recognition for his five scholarly journals. Wu additionally gave two presentations on his research in 2019.

Professor of Accounting Rong Yang, was recognized for her fifth time this year. Yang published three journals and wrote three articles in 2019.

Saunders is proud to acknowledge the accomplishments of its faculty. With faculty active in their fields, Saunders is able to offer relevant education that gives its students real world experience.
