COVID-19 booster requirement is suspended

Booster suspension applies to students, faculty, and staff

We continue to strongly encourage everyone in the RIT community to get their COVID 19 booster, as it effectively prevents severe illness, hospitalization, and death. However, at this time, the booster requirement (set for May 15) has been put on hold indefinitely for RIT students, faculty, and staff.

We have suspended the booster requirement in response to the low COVID-19 hospitalization rates in our region and New York state. While the latest variant is highly contagious, most fully vaccinated individuals currently infected with COVID-19 are not experiencing severe illness or requiring hospitalization. However, the booster requirement may be reinstituted in the future based on further guidance from public health experts, government mandates, or increased severe illness and hospitalizations on our campus, or in Monroe County.

RIT will continue to require that all students and employees be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 or obtain a university-approved medical or religious exemption.

This disease is constantly evolving, so we must continue to monitor its course and remain flexible as we make changes in the way we study, work, and live on campus. We will continue to update policies as appropriate. Please follow the RIT Ready website, including our community expectations, for the latest information.
