Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series features Xilinx VP

Electrical engineering alumnus Larry Getman leads conversation on career versatility

Larry Getman ’89, vice president at Xilinx, is the featured speaker at the upcoming Dean’s Alumni Speaker Series event. He will present “Being a Career Chameleon” at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, in the Xerox Auditorium in Gleason Hall.

Getman’s presentation will focus on discovering strategies that work to keep an engineer’s career fresh and some key skill sets needed across multiple disciplines.

As vice president of the Processing Platforms Division, Getman is responsible for leading Xilinx’s All Programmable system-on-chip business strategy, including product definition, ecosystem development and product line marketing for the company’s flagship Zynq technology. Since joining Xilinx in 2004 when it acquired Triscend Corp., Getman has held executive management positions in corporate development, processing business development and marketing.

Prior to work at Xilinx, he served as vice president of business development at Triscend Corp. and held engineering and sales positions with Credence Systems and National Semiconductor. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from RIT and an MBA from San Jose State.
