Destler and his banjos featured on WXXI radio show
Show airs from noon to 1 p.m. on WXXI-AM (1370)
RIT President Bill Destler and his banjo collection will be featured on this week’s edition of “Arts Friday” on WXXI-AM’s 1370 Connection.
Radio show host Mona Seghatoleslami has also invited Destler, who collects historical banjos, focusing on their technological development from the 1840s to the 1920s, to bring along some instruments and play. Her other guest on the show, which airs from noon to 1 p.m. Sept. 6, will be Jeff Vincent, a piano tuner by trade who collects and restores instruments that were commonly used for entertainment on street corners a hundred years ago, including monkey organs, carousel organs and barrel pianos.
