Donate personal care items to Center for Youth
Student service projects intended to help runaways during the holiday season
Personal care items are being collected throughout the RIT campus to be donated to the Center for Youth shelter for teens.
The effort, which continues through Thursday, is a student service project co-sponsored by the Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement and Honors students in University Studies, the School of Individualized Study and the Colleges of Liberal Arts and Applied Science and Technology.
“The Center for Youth’s emergency shelter provides a place where homeless and runaway youth feel heard and respected,” said Phyllis Walker, assistant director of RIT’s Leadership Institute & Community Service Center. “The shelter provides safe housing for youths living in Monroe County.”
Suggested items for donation include toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap, shavers, toilet paper and feminine hygiene products.
Drop-off locations are in Campus Center, room 2740; Eastman Hall, room 2210; Student Alumni Union, room 1180; Golisano Hall, main lobby near Ctrl-Alt-Deli; and in Liberal Arts Hall, room 2210.
