Ellen Rosen named director of University News
Former Rochester Business Alliance vice president will lead public relations efforts
Ellen Rosen is the new director of University News Services at Rochester Institute of Technology.
She joins RIT from the Rochester Business Alliance, where she served as the vice president of marketing, communication and membership. She previously served as the assistant managing editor for business and technology news at the Democrat and Chronicle, as well as assistant metro editor and as a reporter, also with the Democrat and Chronicle.
“I feel very privileged to have been chosen to join the University News team, and become a member of the RIT community,” says Rosen. “So many exciting, fascinating, groundbreaking events take place every day on this campus and I’m looking forward to helping tell those stories in a way that further enhances RIT’s reputation as a university where learning, creativity and research are paving a way to a brighter future for all.”
Rosen replaces Paul Stella, who accepted a position as director of communications and alumni relations at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
“Ellen brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in public relations and media to the University News team,” says Bob Finnerty, RIT’s chief communications officer. “She is a strategic thinker who will help us tell the story of RIT to a broad and growing audience across the globe.”
Rosen, of Pittsford, earned her master’s degree in journalism from Northwestern University and has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Rochester.
