John McCutcheon

Internationally renowned musician, singer and political activist John McCutcheon will perform at 7 p.m. on March 29 in Ingle Auditorium on the campus of Rochester Institute of Technology. The six-time Grammy Award nominee will perform selections from both traditional and contemporary folk music, using instruments as varied as the hammered dulcimer, guitar, banjo and piano.

Following the concert, audience members are invited to participate in an acoustic music jam in the 1829 Room (located across from the Ingle Auditorium). Members of the RIT Student Music Association will lead the jam session.

McCutcheon is noted for his instrumental talent and commitment to grassroots political organizations. Some of his best-known songs include Christmas in the Trenches, an ode to soldiers in World War I, and Hail to the Chief, a recent composition made up entirely of excerpts from the speeches of former president George W. Bush.

The concert is sponsored by the Golden Link Folk Singing Society and RIT. Tickets will be sold at the door. They are $25 general admission, $5 for RIT students with ID. Children 12-years-old and under will be admitted free. The Golden Link member price of $20 will be extended to RIT faculty and staff.
