Former commercial printer talks print of the past to industry’s future employees

Andrew Lovenheim of Rochester co-founded Great Lakes Press Corp. with his brother during the Great Depression. Despite the economic hardships, Great Lakes Press Corp. turned a profit in its first year and went on to become one of the largest commercial printers in the country, employing more than 400 people.
Lovenheim will share his experiences with students from RIT’s School of Print Media at 4 p.m. Oct. 21 in Neblette Conference Room, Frank E. Gannett Hall.
Great Lakes Press Corp. was the first local commercial printer to begin using the innovative technology known as lithography, while other printers were still using letterpress.
Frank Cost, interim dean of the College of Imaging Arts and Sciences, will moderate the talk.
