‘Freeze Fest’ celebrates winter Feb. 3-5
Comedian Donald Glover and Super Bowl Party highlight weekend of frozen events
The highly anticipated sleety, snowy, slushy weather has finally blown in.
Rochester Institute of Technology encourages students to come out and celebrate winter’s arrival by participating in the annual Freeze Fest celebration on campus Feb. 3-5.
The festival begins Feb. 3 with Rail Jam, a ski and snowboard competition, and RIT’s annual Gospel Fest featuring Gospel artist William McDowell.
Events continue Feb. 4 with Snowzilla, an 80-foot inflatable snow tubing slide, and a frozen Human versus Zombies tournament. Family activities including caricatures, photo snow globes and treats will be available at the “Frosty Fun Center,” in the Student Alumni Union. At 7 p.m., RIT’s Global Union presents Unification 2012, a celebration of RIT’s cultural diversity through performances from various cultural clubs on campus. Saturday night also features a chili cook-off, dessert bake-off and Ice Disco.
The weekend features comedian Donald Glover, best known for his role as Troy Barnes on the NBC sitcom Community. Tickets for the 9 p.m. Feb. 4 show are $11 for students with ID, $21 for faculty and staff and $31 for the general public, and can be purchased at the Gordon Field House box office. Call 585-475-4121 for ticket information or to charge by phone.
Activities conclude Feb. 5 with a 5K race beginning at 10 a.m. and the Student Government Super Bowl Party at 5 p.m. in the Gordon Field House.
