The Fund for RIT to host Thank A Giver (TAG) Day

Students who post a picture of or with one of these tags to Instagram on Feb. 12-13 using #RITTAGDAY will be entered into a drawing to win RIT swag.

With Valentine’s Day quickly approaching, it’s a great time to spread love and thanks to a group that helps make the RIT experience so memorable—the thousands of donors who make contributions to the university each year.

Students, faculty and staff are invited to show their donor appreciation at the first ever Thank A Giver (TAG) Day, which will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 12 in the Campus Center lobby and the Campus Center Reading Room.

“TAG Day is an initiative to educate the campus community about the importance of philanthropy at RIT,” said Freddie Frey, assistant director, student and recent alumni giving. “RIT is fortunate to have such generous alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff and friends who value the opportunities that an RIT education provides.”

The event will include a donor “thank you” writing station, a banner to sign and games to educate university members on The Fund for RIT and annual giving. The first 150 attendees to complete donor appreciation activities will receive a free t-shirt.

Donor support helps to make up the difference between what students’ tuition covers and what it costs to operate all of the degree programs and student services on campus. To indicate some of the ways that donor contributions impact RIT, there will be red tags on buildings, classrooms and labs across campus.

Last year, with gifts from more than 12,000 supporters, the Fund for RIT raised more than $5.6 million in support of colleges and academic programs, scholarships, student life, clubs and organizations and RIT’s unrestricted fund for the university’s greatest needs and more.

“Whether RIT donors help keep the heat on, give to a student club or organization, support a college or academic department, or provide scholarship funds, their contributions make a difference every day,” said Frey.
