Gallery r Hosts Senior Fine Arts Studio Exhibition
RIT’s student-run gallery holds reception on Friday, April 24
Art patrons: This is your opportunity to see a showcase of excellence by up and coming artists who are completing their undergraduate degree in fine arts from Rochester Institute of Technology.
RIT’s student-run Gallery r hosts the Senior Fine Arts Studio Exhibition from April 23 to May 16, with an opening reception scheduled from 7 to 9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 24.
Elizabeth Kronfield, assistant professor at RIT’s School of Art, says it’s a capstone experience for these nine students, because it gives them the opportunity to move into the realm of professional exhibition artists.
In agreement is Tom Lightfoot, who says this culmination of work reflects “who they have become and what is important to them as artists.”
“This chance to celebrate and reflect on their artistic accomplishments gives them the confidence to continue showing their work in exhibitions and galleries or to pursue graduate studies in fine arts,” says the associate professor at RIT’s School of Art.
Gallery r, located at 775 Park Ave., is open all year long and features contemporary art in a professional gallery setting where students meet the same challenges and expectations that confront established artists. Hours are from 2 to 6 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and 1 to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. The gallery is also open the first Friday of the month from 7 to 9 p.m. Admission is free; for more information call 585-242-9470.
