Gordon awarded Particia Sotirin Women & Language Award

Nickesia Gordon, associate professor in the School of Communication, was awarded the Patricia Sotirin Women & Language Award for her article, “Woman’s Tongue: The Poetics, Politics, and Production of Feminist Rhetorical Practices in Reggae Music," by the Organization for the Study of Communication, Language & Gender. Named for the former editor of the journal Women & Language, the award recognizes the most highly regarded article in the journal for the year, as voted on by the editorial board. The organization stated that Gordon’s article is a “theoretically significant piece for feminist scholarship.”
