Herbeck wins Best Student Paper at Color and Imaging Conference

Sofie Herbeck, a third-year color science Ph.D. student, was awarded Best Student Paper at the Color and Imaging Conference in Montreal for her presentation "Adjusting Transparency Toward Optimizing Face Appearance in Optical See-Through Augmented Reality." Her research, co-authored with faculty members Michael Murdoch, head of the Integrated Sciences Academy, and Christopher Thorstenson, assistant professor in the College of Science, investigates the relationship between brightness and transparency to enhance visibility and preference for diverse facial skin tones in AR displays.
