Image Permanence Institute awarded National Leadership Grant
The Image Permanence Institute (IPI) was awarded $552,000 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services National Leadership Grant for Museums. The funding will support a research project led by Emma Richardson, director of research at IPI, that will study the relationship between room-level humidity, object-level water activity, and the associated risk of fungal germination on organic materials. This research will inform the management of collection environments by balancing the preservation of organic objects with environmental sustainability. The IPI will work in collaboration with Georgia Southern University and the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
