Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival returns for its fourth consecutive year on Saturday, May 7. Nearly 350 examples of RIT student, faculty and staff innovation and creativity will be on display.

Visitors to Imagine RIT: Innovation and Creativity Festival can use motion control technology to explore the solar system, sit for a 3D portrait shoot, learn how to make music on a banana and harness the power of alternative energy to create their very own ice cream treat.

For the fourth consecutive year, Rochester Institute of Technology will host the kickoff to the region’s popular festival season from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. May 7 on the RIT campus. Nearly 350 examples of innovation and creativity—in the form of exhibitions, demonstrations and live performances—will be on display. About 60 percent are new to the festival this year, and half of the remaining exhibits are variations on previous favorites.

“Imagine RIT has something for everyone,” says RIT President Bill Destler. “The collision of our left-brain assets in science, technology and entrepreneurship with our right-brain proficiency in the creative and design arts provides a dazzling spectacle that highlights the reasons this university is truly unique.”

In addition, Imagine RIT features a variety of food, entertainment and plenty of children’s activities that ensure a fun, family-friendly environment. More than 32,000 visitors attended last year’s event.

Time Warner Cable is the premier sponsor of Imagine RIT. Festival admission is free, and parking is available on the RIT campus. There is also free shuttle service offered from Monroe Community College. Visitors can plan their day at the Imagine RIT website.
