‘INSIGHT Into Diversity’ names RIT ‘Diversity Champion’ and HEED Award winner

INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine has recognized Rochester Institute of Technology as a 2021 Higher Education Excellence in Diversity (HEED) Award recipient and a 2021 Diversity Champion. This marks the eighth year in a row RIT has been named a HEED Award recipient and seventh consecutive year as a Diversity Champion.

As a recipient of the annual HEED Award — a national honor recognizing U.S. colleges and universities that demonstrate an outstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion — RIT will be featured, along with 100 other recipients, in the November 2021 issue of INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine.

INSIGHT Into Diversity also recognizes selected institutions — those that rank in the top tier of HEED Award recipients — as Diversity Champions. These institutions exemplify an unyielding commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout their campus communities, across academic programs, and at the highest administrative levels. Known for visionary leadership, Diversity Champions are institutions that serve as role models and set the standard for thousands of other U.S. college campuses striving for inclusive excellence. 

“The RIT community is proud to be recognized by INSIGHT Into Diversity year after year for our long-term commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion,” said Keith Jenkins, RIT’s vice president and associate provost for Diversity and Inclusion. “Our strength comes from our diversity, and the Action Plan for Race and Ethnicity we unveiled this summer will guide our efforts moving forward as we roll out new programs, services, and policies to help create equal access, opportunities, and respect for all. We look forward to redoubling our efforts in this important work.”
