Kastner contributes to NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory 25th anniversary

Joel Kastner, professor in the School of Physics and Astronomy and the Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science, contributed to the 25th anniversary celebration of NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory with a multiwavelength image of the planetary nebula Hubble 5. The image integrates Chandra X-ray data from a 2014 paper co-led by Marcus Freeman ’16 (astrophysical sciences and technology), recent Atacama Large Millimeter Array radio imaging of molecular gas from astrophysical sciences and technology Ph.D. student Paula Moraga Baez ’16 (astrophysical sciences and technology), dissertation research, and archival Hubble Space Telescope visible-light imaging.
