A Message from Keith Jenkins: RIT Diversity Dashboard

We are pleased to share with the RIT Community the RIT Diversity Dashboard. The RIT Diversity Dashboard provides a snapshot of institutional demographics, highlighting RIT’s diverse populations and allowing us to examine recent trends related to race, ethnicity, and gender diversity.

We welcome you to explore RIT’s diversity through the dashboard, which begins with RIT’s Diversity Index, characterizing the probability that two people chosen at random will be from different race/ethnicity categories.[1] Next, the dashboard allows us to examine select race/ethnicity/gender trend data related to student, faculty, and staff populations. Trend data for student achievement is also included. Finally, a glossary of terms assists individuals as they navigate the dashboard.

While the RIT Diversity Dashboard provides only a snapshot of select aspects of RIT’s diverse populations, our progress towards greater transparency allows for greater introspection of who we are today as we consider our paths forward. We are grateful to RIT’s Institutional Research, Data & Analytics for their role in the development of this dashboard.
