The story behind an atlas and landmark work of graphic design is the focus of a new book about designer Herbert Bayer’s contributions to information design and visual education. Herbert Bayer's World Geo-Graphic Atlas and Information Design at Mid-Century is written by Benjamin Benus and published by RIT Press.

The eight-day study-abroad course, Health Systems Analysis and Innovation, gives students insights into a different health care model and the nuanced reasons it works well for the Swedish culture.

Exploring the complexities of using ladybugs as pest control
In an attempt to limit the use of chemical pesticides and promote native species on their land, some gardeners have begun purchasing ladybugs as a form of “natural” pest control. However, Assistant Professor Kaitlin Stack Whitney says that buying ladybugs online, as opposed to attracting them naturally, can cause more harm than good.

RIT and FDA test digital therapy/avatar to treat addiction, reduce intimate partner violence
Researchers from five colleges at RIT are testing a new way to deliver mental health therapy to people struggling with alcohol/drug addiction and aggressive behavior. RIT is running a randomized clinical trial with the Food and Drug Administration to test the therapy platform “RITchCBT” as a tool for treating people whose substance use disorders have led to intimate partner violence.

Professor Rudy Pugliese retires and will become professor emeritus
Professor Rudy Pugliese will adopt the title of professor emeritus on July 1 when he officially retires. Pugliese taught in the College of Liberal Arts’ School of Communication for 37 years. In addition to his teaching responsibilities, he also spent 24 years advising students working for Reporter Magazine.

RIT held its annual Retiree Luncheon June 7 in the Gordon Field House and Activities Center. More than 500 university retirees and guests attended the event, which featured lunch, presentations, and opportunities to connect with colleagues.
