NTID co-hosts cyber security conference Oct. 22-23

NTID will co-host the New York Cyber Security and Engineering Technology Association’s Fall Conference Oct. 22–23 in Rosica Hall.

The National Technical Institute for the Deaf, a college of Rochester Institute of Technology, will co-host the New York Cyber Security and Engineering Technology Association’s Fall Conference Oct. 22–23 in NTID’s Rosica Hall. The event opens at 8 a.m. with workshops, demonstrations and presentations until 5 p.m.

The conference is free, but participants are asked to register online, as seating is limited.

Featuring industry and educational experts, conference topics will include research and current advances in engineering technology and STEM course design, application and teaching. Also on the agenda will be information about current access technologies for special needs populations.

Opening keynote presenters are Jane LeClair, chief operating officer at the National Cyber Security Institute at Excelsior College and Randy Yerrick, nationally recognized professor and researcher in the fields of STEM education. Additional presenters include Stephen Egarievwe, director of the Nuclear Engineering and Radiological Science Center from Alabama A&M University; and Julius Jow, director of the Cyber Security Laboratory and Certification Programs at Alabama A&M University.

Many regional and local experts from area industries and colleges throughout New York state are also sharing their experiences on curriculum development, teaching and cutting-edge technology implementation in STEM, access technologies and engineering, and engineering technology disciplines. Professional engineers can earn Ph.D. credits, and high school teachers can earn CEUs for attending these presentations and workshops.
