Osher fall classes begin Sept. 13

Exploring the Galapagos Islands, road trips and recipes of Canada, Irish culture and literature, and tales from the crypts at Rochester’s Mt. Hope Cemetery are just some of the more than 40 classes offered this fall by the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology.

The classes, open to anyone who is 50 years of age or older, are held weekly, from one to 10 weeks, starting on Sept. 13. Each session lasts up to two hours. The cost is $100 if participants register for one quarter, or $335 for unlimited classes the entire year.

Although there are usually in-person classes as well as online classes, all of this fall’s classes will be held via Zoom as a COVID-19 precaution. That has enabled some who live as far away as Nigeria to enroll in a class.

An online course preview session is scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday, which will introduce attendees to the institute and provide highlights from a few of the fall courses. Visit the online catalog for preview meeting information and passcode.
