Osher at RIT announces winter program schedules for age 50+ learners
Take a sneak peek Dec. 14 before interactive online classes begin on Jan. 11
Adults age 50 and older can engage and enrich their mind by joining the learning community at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Rochester Institute of Technology.
The 10-week winter term runs Jan. 11 through March 19. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Osher classes will be offered online using the Zoom video/audio conferencing system.
Learners can choose from more than 40 courses and listen to speakers in the weekly Pfaudler Lecture Series, as well as attend wine tasting socials and virtual travel tours via Zoom. Courses vary from history and literature to science and music. This winter, attendees can learn about the history of Africa, topics on the human brain, and the world of birds, to name a few. The full winter catalogue is now online.
“Anyone age 50 and over who has a love of learning is welcome,” said Mary Bistrovich, program director at Osher. “Since we went online, people have joined us from several different cities, states, and countries. And now that many are working from home and have flexibility in their schedules, we are seeing more Gen X’ers express interest in our program. It’s a great way to stay engaged, particularly in this period of isolation through which we are all living.”
Registration for the winter term opens at 10 a.m. Dec. 15. Osher is offering a special $100 winter term membership for any new people who would like to join the program.
There will be a free winter course preview hosted by Osher via Zoom from 10-11 a.m.
on Monday, Dec. 14.
The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at RIT is a peer-led organization that offers a wide variety of academic, cultural, and social programs and activities to enrich and inspire adult learners over age 50.
