    Rochester Prep High School seniors Sandra Rodriquez, left; Mohammed Amadi; and Zabari Phillip, right, presented their project, “Monster Doctor,” an interactive game about a surgeon with unusual patients, at the RIT-RPHS Partnership Capstone Showcase on Feb. 12. Fourteen seniors from Rochester Prep High School presented their projects on topics that also included explorations in health care fields, photojournalism, civic engagement and microbiology. The RIT-RPHS Partnership is a collaboration that began in 2013 through a gift from Ron Zarrella, an RIT and RPHS trustee. Rochester Prep High school is a local charter high school within the Uncommon Schools charter network.

    “De’VIA: Manifesto Comes of Age” exhibition at the University of Rochester’s Memorial Art Gallery featured work from the permanent collection of RIT/NTID’s Dyer Arts Center. De’VIA represents a name from American Sign Language meaning Deaf View/Image Art.

    The 28th Frederick H. Minett Professor William Clark met with students, faculty and staff in the MOSAIC Center. Clark, former president and CEO of the Urban League of Rochester, will hold the position for one academic year. The Frederick H. Minett Professorship brings distinguished Rochester area multicultural professionals to campus to share their expertise with the RIT community.

    Thomas Warfield, senior lecturer at NTID Department for Performing Arts, presented a series of short stories using song and piano in Fireside Lounge. He reminisced about his experiences and the colorful shoes he wore.

    William Harris Gallery is exhibiting a display by photojournalism seniors through Feb. 14. The exhibit is the completion of year-long documentary projects by students graduating in 2020.

    Students participated in the improv workshop "Say Yes, And" and experienced teamwork, fundamentals of improvisation, and making character and scenic choices. The event was presented by NTID and the College of Liberal Arts Theatre Arts Program.

    RIT students involved in the Asian Deaf Club, Chinese Students and Scholars Association, and Department of Modern Languages and Cultures in the College of Liberal Arts celebrated "The Year of the Rat" for Lunar New Year on Feb. 7. Activities included traditional lion dances and activities, as well as food tasting.

    Rick Guidotti, founder and director of POSITIVE EXPOSURE, delivered a talk as part of the Inclusive Excellence initiative. POSITIVE EXPOSURE is an organization that utilizes the visual arts, particularly photography, to celebrate human and genetic diversity. The College of Science and other RIT partners sponsored the event.

    Lea Sposito, a fourth-year packaging science student, checks in at the Milwaukee booth at the Packaging Science Career Fair. Undergraduate students met with company representatives to learn more about co-op opportunities and possible jobs after graduation. Many of the representatives are alumni of RIT's packaging science program.

    Black Heritage Month kicked off with a performance by the Womba Africa Drumming and Dance group from Ghana in the Fireside Lounge. Numerous events are scheduled during the month of February.

    Students took part in the annual Winter Warrior obstacle course at Grace Watson Field on Feb. 1. Part of FreezeFest, the event was hosted by Phi Kappa Psi and Sigma Chi to benefit the Veterans Outreach Center.
