Academy Award-winning actress, author and advocate Marlee Matlin visited RIT/NTID to help celebrate the 40th anniversary of RIT’s Substance and Addiction Intervention Services for the Deaf (SAISD).

May Ren, a third-year industrial design student from Beijing, China, sold all of her lamps in the first few hours of the holiday sale. RIT’s College of Art and Design Holiday Sale filled the Student Alumni Union on Dec. 4. A variety of handmade work was offered for purchase, including lamps, jewelry, glass items, ornaments and wood pieces.

Construction is nearly completed for a new playground at Margaret’s House childcare facility on campus. The play areas include a cycle track, water runnel, hill slide, birds nest swing, monkey village climber, sandbox and gathering area. The play environment is designed to encourage growth and discovery. A grand opening is scheduled in the spring.

Teams from the nation’s top 10 cybersecurity universities came to RIT Nov. 22-24 to face-off in the Collegiate Penetration Testing Competition (CPTC) International Finals. A member from RIT's team, Mohammed Alsherhi, works during the competition.

RIT's esports team and RIT Public Safety officers took part in a friendly Call of Duty tournament Nov. 23 at RIT's MAGIC Center. The event helped raise money for mental health awareness. 

Khaled Fallath, an architecture graduate student from Saudi Arabia, talks about his 21-day stay in Italy during the Global Learning Symposium on Nov. 20. RIT is hosting several events for International Education Week, which celebrates the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. The symposium provided students an opportunity to share their academic accomplishments from their study and work abroad experiences.

Native American Heritage Month keynote speaker Mariah Gladstone presented a talk and demonstration about Native foods. Gladstone developed Indigikitchen, an online cooking platform, to revitalize Native American foods. Here, she met with a small group in the MOSAIC Center for further discussions later in the day.

RIT teamed up with Feeding Children Everywhere to package and prepare 20,000 meals for local and international food banks for the Giving Tuesday Hunger Project.
