    RIT has an a cappella group that sings exclusively in Japanese. The group’s name, Kaminari, means “thunder” in Japanese. They performed at the kick-off party for International Education Week.

    Dean Fallas, a game design and development student from Oxford, Conn., weaves beads for his Wampum belt. Native American Future Stewards conducted a class for first-year students about beading and Wampum making as part of their RIT 365 experience which introduces new students to all sorts of offerings at RIT.

    College of Science students celebrated being named to the Dean’s List for the 2018-2019 academic year with faculty and staff at a ceremony and reception.

    RIT held its ninth annual Veterans Day Breakfast this morning in the Gordon Field House to honor veterans, service members and their families. The POW/MIA Table, or missing man table, honors the memory of fallen, missing or imprisoned military service members.

    Illustration students Johnny Harris and Katie Jacobs, both from Syracuse, N.Y., draw live birds brought by the organization Wild Wings. Professor Alan Singer’s zoological and botanical illustration class allows students to accurately depict animals and plants for use in various media.

    Meena Harris, Head of Strategy and Leadership at Uber, was the featured speaker for the Saunders College of Business Gasser Lecture Series, Nov. 7. Harris shared her experiences as a power player in activism, as well as her positive business initiatives. Her talk "Leading with Power and Purpose" was the keynote address for the 2019 RIT Entrepreneurship Conference.

    Students got together on election night Nov. 5, for RIT's Election Night Hackathon. Students worked on open source projects that celebrate the 100th anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote.

    Miki Kim demonstrated dance moves to the attendees at the Japanese Autumn Festival. The event was celebrated by the Japanese Program of the Department of Modern Languages and Cultures with traditional Japanese dance, games and a Taiko drum performance.

    Members of RIT's basketball team and Phi Sigma Kappa fraternity teamed up with area Special Olympians for a basketball intramural tournament in Clark Gym on Nov. 3.
