Aron Chen, a fourth-year student at The College at Brockport, adjusts a flag before the 9/11 ceremony began at RIT. RIT held its annual 9/11 Vigil at the Sentinel in front of the SAU today. This is the seventh year the Arnold Air Society, a professional and honorary service organization comprised of ROTC cadets from regional officer candidate training and university ROTC programs, coordinated the event with support from RIT’s Air Force ROTC Detachment 538.

RIT President David Munson (right) and Vice President of Beijing Jiaotong University Jun Liu signed a renewal of commitment on Sept. 10 to recognize the success of the RIT-BJTU partnership. The two universities have been strategic partners since 2012 and offer a joint B.S. degree in Management Information Systems to more than 400 students. A tree will be planted in Global Village on RIT’s campus to commemorate the partnership.

The inaugural Dance Day took place in Clark Gym on Sept. 1. The RIT Dance Association coordinated the launch of the annual event.

Members of the RIT/NTID community gathered for the annual Apple Festival, a celebration that combines entertainment and information on clubs and organizations. A variety of apple-themed treats were provided.

Freshmen, transfer and returning students head to class as the fall semester begins. This year, RIT has a record enrollment of over 19,000 students and a freshman class of about 2,900, the highest in history.

Students prepare peanut butter sandwiches to be donated to various food pantries in Rochester. It’s part of this year’s 50 Acts of Kindness to spotlight various ways RIT students, faculty, staff and alumni give back to the community to commemorate RIT’s 50 years on its Henrietta campus. Their goal was to prepare 1,600 sandwiches.
