    Kathrine Switzer, athlete, author and spokeswoman, met with RIT students from the women’s cross country team today. Switzer is best known as the first woman to enter and run the Boston Marathon in 1967. She is the keynote speaker at the Women’s Career Achievement Dinner April 30, sponsored by the Center for Women and Gender and the Center for Leadership and Civic Engagement.

    Renowned dietitian and nutritionist Ellyn Satter visited the RIT campus April 24-26. She met students and faculty, and gave public talks on issues surrounding feeding children. Here, Satter taught the Lifecycle Nutrition Class on April 26 to students in RIT’s Wegmans School of Health and Nutrition.

    Lenore Pearlstein, publisher of INSIGHT Into Diversity, presented RIT the 2018 Diversity Champion to RIT President Munson on Wednesday. The national distinction aims to identify schools that exemplify an unyielding commitment to diversity and inclusion throughout their campus communities, across academic programs and at the highest administrative levels. RIT earned the distinction for the third consecutive year.

    The three-mile Color Run ended with a color throw on April 22. Runners were tossed with colored powders along the course of the run, now in its seventh year. The race, sponsored by RIT Center for Residence Life, was founded as a way to raise awareness about resources for the LGBTQIA community on RIT’s campus and in the Rochester area.

Alpha Sigma Alpha hosted the annual Heel Violence walk on April 22. All proceeds will go to IGNITE, a group supported by United Way of Rochester, which provides free services to people who are deaf and hard of hearing and who have experienced domestic violence or sexual abuse.
