Q&A and film screening with co-star of ‘Guest Artist,’ RIT alumnus Thomas Macias
RIT graduate to talk about acting in award-winning film with Jeff Daniels
RIT alumnus Thomas Macias will share his experience co-starring in the award-winning film Guest Artist with Jeff Daniels during a screening and Q&A event Nov. 18 at RIT’s Panara Theater.
Macias, a Brighton native who graduated from RIT in 2013 with an applied arts and sciences degree, made his feature film debut in Guest Artist, which was originally written as a play by Daniels and turned into a film by director Timothy Busfield. The film is the story of Kenneth (Macias), a young aspiring writer who comes face-to-face with his hero, a legendary but troubled playwright (Daniels) who is not happy about staging his play in a small Michigan town.
The RIT Alumni Relations event will begin with a pre-release screening of Guest Artist at 7 p.m. Nov. 18. Following the film, Macias and RIT President David Munson will sit-down for an Inside the Actors Studio-style conversation, concluding at 9:15 p.m.
Tickets for film screening and live Q&A are free for RIT students (registration is required); $15 for RIT faculty, staff and alumni; and $20 for the general public.
A limited number of VIP tickets are available for $60. VIP tickets include a private reception, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., in Dyer Arts Center with heavy hors d’oeuvres, soft drinks and a cash bar. The VIP ticket also includes a photo opportunity with Macias, a signed Guest Artist poster and reserved seating for the film and post-screening conversation.
