RIT celebrates 3-D computer graphics industry with ‘3December’ event

RIT’s computer-graphics artists will host 3December, an event that celebrates 3-D computer graphics and the artists who create them, on Saturday.

3December is an annual worldwide event that celebrates 3-D computer graphics and the artists who create them.

RIT’s budding computer-graphics artists will host their own 3December event on campus from 1 to 5 p.m. Dec. 3 in Eastman Hall, room 2000. The event is free and open to the public.

The featured guest speakers are Marty Havran, who worked at DreamWorks Animation as the modeling supervisor for 10 years, and Joe Burrascano, the owner and creative director of Nathan Love, an award-winning animation studio based in New York City.

Havran, who currently does freelance work and mentors students, will talk to the audience via Adobe Connect from his studio in Portland, Ore. He will share his experiences about the film industry and various projects during his time at DreamWorks Animation. Havran will also host a virtual critique of selected student work.

Burrascano will talk about his animation studio’s pipeline—from ideas to finished product—along with its client-management process.

Some of Nathan Love’s commercial clients include Kodak, Kraft, American Greetings and Nickelodeon.
