RIT Conference Highlights Student Research in Philosophy

Presentations touch on ethics, aesthetics and religion

The aesthetics of punk rock and St. Augustine’s theory of knowledge are just two of the topics that will be presented on at Rochester Institute of Technology’s first annual Undergraduate Philosophy Conference. The event, followed by an informal reception, will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. April 30 in the James E. Booth Building, room 1440 on campus.

Fred Evans, an expert in the philosophy of technology who currently serves as professor of philosophy and coordinator of the Center for Interpretive and Qualitative Research at Duquesne University, will present the keynote address, “Voices, Oracles and the Social Body.”

The symposium, which is free and open to the public, is being presented by the Department of Philosophy and the RIT Philosophy Club. Each session features a research presentation, commentary from fellow participants and a question and answer session.
