One of the highlights of “Skating Through the Decades of Men’s Hockey at RIT”—besides jerseys, goalie masks, hockey sticks and pucks—are photographs from the RIT Archive Collections.

Skate down the ice, hit a puck and make a goal. Throughout the years, the RIT men’s hockey team has given us something to cheer about and celebrate.

The RIT Archive Collections invites viewers to its current exhibition featuring more than 150 items including photographs, memorabilia and remembrances of former RIT hockey players. “Skating Through the Decades of Men’s Hockey at RIT” runs through March 30 at the RIT Museum, third floor of The Wallace Center.

One of the highlights of the hockey exhibition—besides jerseys, goalie masks, hockey sticks and pucks—are photographs from the RIT Archive Collections. A few of them, from the 1980s, highlight the famous RIT hockey fan club called the Corner Crew.

“This group of dedicated students who came to every game to cheer their players on is now an integral part of RIT hockey’s past and present,” says Jody Sidlauskas, associate archivist and exhibition curator at The Wallace Center.

“This exhibit features over five decades of RIT men’s hockey and we wanted to personalize the exhibit by involving past players,” Sidlauskas says. “So we reached out to alumni and asked for their donations and we’ve been overwhelmed by the response we received.

“Former hockey players have contributed jerseys, photos, scrapbooks, equipment and their stories. It has been a thrill working with this group of alumni who still treasure their days of skating at RIT.”
